Prison Ministry

Coffee Creek Correctional Facility

SAVING SOULS ONE LIFE AT A TIME

In an effort to reduce recidivism, rebuild families and to assist in the training and development of incarcerated men and women; First Things First Prison Ministry provides religious services currently in both Columbia River and Coffee Creek Correctional Institutes. Religious services provide hope, strength and encouragement; reminding each inmate that in-spite of what they have done, God yet loves them.

Naked, and ye clothed me: I was sick, and ye visited me:  I was in prison, and ye came unto me.

Matthew 25:36

Our Ministry Philosophy:

Herman Greene Preaching

  • The AIM of this ministry to reduce recidivism, re-build families and train and develop incarcerated / released men and women.
  • The PROGRAMS of this ministry are centered on the men and women who are currently in or have been released from the Oregon penal system as well as their families.
  • The METHODOLOGY is simple. Reach the lost, give them hope and encourage them to become persons that God has called them to be.
  • The MATERIAL is two-part. For the teaching everything is bible based and experience, in order for the inmates to relate to you, they have to know you, so the teachers have to become transparent. For the rebuilding process, we use the state provided resource manual so that we can help them to find a job, learn how to complete an application and all the other resources that they will need to become whole.
  • The FACILITIES are most often locked down facilities as we teach in the prison, however, when they are released and depending on the parole stipulations, the facilities could range from parks, to restaurants to malls etc.
  • The LEADERS are comprised of Godly Men and Women, who have trusted Christ as their personal savior and desire to share the love of Christ the inmates and their families.

Our Core Values:

  1. We value positive and healthy relationships within and outside the institutions and Families (I Thessalonians 2:8)
  2. We value continuous encouragement and support for both inmate and family (I Thessalonians 5:11)
  3. We value laughter and celebration of any and all of life’s experiences (John 10:10)
  4. We value total acceptance cross-culturally (James 2:1)
  5. We value transparency amongst leaders, inmates and families (I Corinthians 2:3-4)
  6. We value involvement and participation of everyone (I Corinthians 12:14)
  7. We value outreach (Matthew 28:19)
  8. We value any and all development and growth; numerical, natural, and spiritual (Acts 9:31, Hebrews 6:1)
  9. We value a healthy and home-like environment and atmosphere (Ephesians 2:21)
  10. We value intimacy (James 5:16)
  11. We value Professionalism amongst all leaders and staff (Proverbs 22:1)
  12. We value follow-up with all of our families (Proverbs 27:23)

We will keep our core values at the forefront.  These values are derived directly from our mission.  This will keep us focused and on track.  We endeavor to touch lives in more than just a natural way. With the wisdom of the Holy Spirit to bring souls into the kingdom and make disciples we shall accomplish our mission.  Our core values act as a measuring tool to keep our ministry, goal oriented.  These values provide parameters and guidelines for growth and correction in development, decision-making and assessing our programs.
